“¡Qué rico es ser latino!” With that rallying cry, Bad Bunny transformed the Super Bowl stage on February 8, 2026, into a colorful ode to Latin America. The performance was filled with references to his native Puerto Rico and reaffirmed, on the most American of stages, his dominant place within Hispanic culture in the United States.
The Puerto Rican artist opened the show at the most-watched sporting event in the country with his hit “Tití Me Preguntó,” dressed in a white outfit resembling a football uniform and carrying a football under his arm.
He then launched into “Yo Perreo Sola,” a song he dedicated to women who want to dance freely without being harassed. The track became an anthem against harassment from his 2020 album Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana, released during the pandemic.
A “Casita” Filled with Latino Friends
No Bad Bunny performance would be complete without the famous “casita,” a replica of a typical concrete home in Puerto Rico that he often incorporates into his concert sets. Inside the small house awaited one of the show’s biggest surprises.
The artist had promised a big party, and he delivered. He also said there would be many guests, and there were plenty. Among them were Cardi B, Colombian star Karol G, Chilean actor Pedro Pascal, Jessica Alba, Young Miko, David Grutman, and even Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, who were the only guest vocalists during the performance.
“Good afternoon, California, my name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio,” Bad Bunny introduced himself. “If I’m here today, it’s because I never stopped believing in myself, and you should believe in yourself too. You are worth more than you think,” he said as the opening notes of “Mónaco” began to play.
In between songs, the performance featured a wedding between what appeared to be a migrant and a U.S. citizen — a symbol of the country’s diversity and one of several moments of quiet protest that did not go unnoticed. The show concluded with Bad Bunny falling back into the interior of the casita as the echoes of Daddy Yankee’s “Gasolina” filled the stadium.
The anticipation of seeing the Puerto Rican reggaeton star turned into surprise when, instead, American superstar Lady Gaga burst onto the stage unexpectedly. Dressed in an impeccable blue suit and accompanied by a tropical orchestra, the singer took control of the show to perform “Die With a Smile,” backed by a salsa band.
She stepped away from the spotlight just before the opening notes of “Baile Inolvidable,” the high point of the performance.
Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara erupted in celebration when the first chords of “NUEVAYoL” rang out, marking the moment when Bad Bunny reappeared to symbolically present a Grammy Award to a child watching television with his father.
The White Chairs, Puerto Rican Bomba, and the Sapo Concho
From a stage set resembling a banana plantation, seated on one of the white chairs similar to those featured on the cover of his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, singer Ricky Martin made an appearance to perform the protest song “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawai.”
Though politically correct in tone, the performance carried layered messages: residents from Puerto Rico’s poorest neighborhoods dancing to reggaeton, utility poles surrounding the “Bad Bunny” star as he held his country’s flag and sang “El Apagón.”
The sapo concho, an amphibian endemic to Puerto Rico and critically endangered, also made an appearance. Bad Bunny has used it as a local symbol throughout his recent world tour.
As the show drew to a close, he spoke the only words in English heard during his performance: “God bless America.” He then began naming countries from across the American continent, and on stage, the flags of Latin American nations appeared one by one.
